Inspiration:

There are so many things and people that inspire me to compete. Tehya is now at the top of that list. The vision of her and her family to not only help progress research for patients with spina bifida, but also to help others in need with a loving heart is incredibly inspiring to me and serves as a constant reminder of what is truly important. It means so much more to train for an event in her honor and for Tehyathon.

What also inspires me is people of all shapes and sizes all around us who get involved in sports for the fun of it, for their health, and for the camaraderie. I love the energy and the vibe that you can feel from others who live an active lifestyle and are passionate about it.

Heroes

Andy is a hero to me – mostly for putting up with me, and also for his patience, humbleness, and the way he brings humor to every situation. In addition to him, I have so many people I admire that are heroes to me. It would be tough to name them all, and I would inevitably miss some and then feel badly about that, so I will be more general here.

My heroes are people like Tehya who overcome challenges and choose to make the most of their life and situation. My heroes also include people who put others before themselves and give back in some way to others and/or society – not because they have to, but because they truly want to.

Other Interests: Our two canine kids Bradley and Urkel; volunteering for Guide Dogs for the Blind's local puppy raising group; hanging out with Andy and friends doing NOTHING after a long day of training.
